ROCKLOYD SLABS & ROLLS
 
Rockloyd Slabs & Rolls are specifically designed keeping in view the needs of Building Insulation. The product details are as follows:
 
Material Constituents - Fibres of Fe2O3 and SiO2 mineral bonded with phenol formaldehyde.
Raw Material - Selected rocks containing silica and iron.
Manufacturing Process - Rocks are melted at 1600°C in metal lined furnace and drawn into fine fibred of 3-5 microns dia by centrifugal fabrication. Fiber coated with binder is laid in felt form and the felt is compressed and cured into slabs. Processes are optimized to meet commercial density required in industry.
Stability - Stable up to 800°C since constituents are melted at high temperature all constituents are stabilized to their utmost extent rendering them passive to any chemical decomposition or reaction under normal exposure conditions.
 
Thermal Properties –
a) Thermal conductivity: finer fibers (3-5 microns) and higher density from 48 to 144 Kg/m³ give lower thermal conductivities at each temperature.
b) Thermal diffusivity: (which determines the rate of temperature change within ducts and enclosures) is lower due to lower thermal conductivity and higher density.

Acoustics –
Rockwool has good noise absorption characteristics in the lower frequency ranges and hence can be used for acoustical sound proofing application.
